SAMHSA Poster Series

The SAMHSA Poster Series is a personal project to create an awareness campaign for the SAMHSA. SAMHSA - Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration - provides information, help getting treatment, help hotlines, and other services individuals struggling with substance abuse and mental health in the United States of America. This particular poster series was aimed at advertising their hotline.

This project from start to finish including revisions took one week.

In my imagery I aimed to manifest negative emotions such as grief, sorrow, and despair in such a manner that would resonate with the viewer. As the targeted audience were people going through these or other similar emotions, I really desired to create something they could sympathize with. I chose a bright yet muted color palette to help draw attention, but not so bright and colorful that they no longer appeal to those experiencing hardship.

These posters are intended to be displayed in and around public transportation. Since public transit receives plentiful foot traffic, it is a beneficial area to help spread the SAMHSA hotline number. Not only this but public transport is often used by young adults which statistically have fairly high numbers of mental health struggles.
